The University of the Philippines School of Economics (UPSE), in partnership with the Philippine Center for Economic Development (PCED), recently concluded its STATA II: Basic Econometrics Using Stata training. The program aimed to strengthen students’ analytical skills and enhance their application of econometric tools in research and thesis writing.
Designed for students with prior familiarity with Stata, the training provided hands-on experience in data analysis, introduced key statistical techniques, and demonstrated practical applications of regression models and workflows. These skills are essential for conducting applied research and producing rigorous academic work in economics.
The sessions were led by Ms. Marife Lou L. Bacate, a development economist, and were held onsite at the UPSE Encarnacion Hall, providing participants with a collaborative and interactive learning environment. Priority was given to advanced econometrics students and thesis writers, with limited slots available for non-UPSE students.
