The seminar highlighted the transformative potential of technology—including digital services, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms—in driving productivity, economic growth, and institutional reform across the East Asia and Pacific region. It emphasized that the benefits of technology are uneven unless supported by strong institutions and coordinated policy reforms.
The discussion also examined the interplay between technology, labor markets, services, and sustainability, drawing insights from key publications such as Services Unbound, Future Jobs, Green Technologies, and Firm Foundations of Growth.
For the Philippines, the seminar underscored that successful technological adoption requires simultaneous reforms in institutional structures, workforce development, regulatory frameworks, and strategic investments in green and decarbonization technologies.
