The Philippine Center for Economic Development (PCED) and the UP School of Economics (UPSE) are organizing the 2025 Training on Impact Evaluation for Research, Projects and Policies. This initiative is part of PCED’s and UPSE’s public service commitment to provide quality and relevant trainings to their stakeholders. The training will be conducted on June 30-July 25, 2025 at UPSE.
The 2025 Training on Impact Evaluation is a four-week intensive program designed for faculty and researchers from state universities and colleges (SUCs), as well as technical personnel from government agencies (NGAs). Full scholarships are available for selected scholar applicants. Scholarship will cover costs of major transportation expenses, hotel accommodations, meals, access to software tools, training materials, and field visits to agencies conducting impact evaluation.
Program Objectives
The training program is designed to:
1. Enhance the technical capacity of scholars and participants in the areas of project development and evaluation, and
2. Equip scholars and participants with the skills to conduct impact evaluation research using advanced statistical tools on both publicly available and proprietary datasets, thereby supporting evidence-based policymaking and regulatory decisions at both national and local levels.
Program Structure
The program is structured into two phases:
Phase 1- Lectures delivered by esteemed resource speakers, and engagement in workshops and hands-on exercises to build foundational knowledge, and
Phase 2- Applications of what scholars and participants have learned by developing their own impact evaluation proposals. They will receive mentoring sessions to guide and support them through this process.
Expected Outcome
The culmination of the training program is the presentations of preliminary impact evaluation proposals by scholars and participants to a panel of experts. This will be an opportunity to showcase their acquired skills, which will be tested and further developed.
The 2025 Impact Evaluation Training offers a valuable chance for the enhancement of research skills and promotion of evidence-based policymaking. PCED and UPSE have received interest from qualified applicants who wish to participate in this significant program. This training program is expected to be conducted yearly with 20-25 scholars and participants every session.
