For many women, household work remains invisible labor, while care work in society is often undervalued. This was the central focus of the seminar “Advancing Gender Equality in the Care Economy.”
The discussion highlighted both paid and unpaid care work and its essential role in sustaining families, communities, and the economy. It also emphasized persistent gender inequalities, where women continue to bear a larger share of caregiving responsibilities, leading to “time poverty,” and called for greater recognition, redistribution, and support for care work through stronger policies and institutional action.
